I am able to run classes from my home studio. All classes are small to allow more individual attention for students. All classes have a maximum of 4 participants. Classes can be offered both during the day/evening or weekends.

I am really excited to be running creative classes for you in 2016. I am an artist who works primarily in textiles but I love helping others find their creative voice. Frog Pond Studio is a spacious, separate working artist studio in my garden. Whether you are experienced or not, or If you are looking to try something new for fun, relaxation or to explore your creative potential, there is a class for you.,. Classes are small and limited to 4 people. I need a minimum of 2 people to run a class so round up a friend and book in. Payment is required by the first class. Kaye Shanks The Art of Doodling Adult colouring books are popular right now but why not draw your own patterns? Art doodling is a fun activity that can help reduce everyday stress. You can take it anywhere and doesn't require a lot of time. If you haven't picked up a pencil for a while, this is a great structured way to get back to drawing. The introduction class covers the basic tools and papers. Advanced class includes adding colour and designing your own patterns. Introduction to Art Doodling 1 x 3 hour class Cost $60 Advanced Art Doodling Cost $60 Folded Artist Books This small folded artist book is a fun project to use as a special gift card, a unique short story book or to remind you of a special occasion. You will get to make 2 in the class and learn some mixed media techniques including watercolour backgrounds, foiling, stamping and stencilling to give a layered collage effect. Dates and Times Wed 16/3 7pm-10pm Cost $70 Paper flowers and flower cards These highly addictive paper flowers are very easy to learn. They make fantastic embellishments for cards, scrapbooking or gifts. A group of them makes a great framed piece. Learn how to make a layered flower card using 3 different size punched shapes. Both flowers can be made using recycled papers. Dates and Times Wed 9/3 7pm-9pm Cost $45 Felted Bracelets Felted bracelets are colourful to wear and fun to make. You will make 2 types of bracelets - a circle bracelet and one made with felt balls. Dates and Times Wed 2/3 7pm-10pm, Wed 23/3 7pm-10pm Cost $54 Embroidered Felt Hearts Come and learn some basic embroidery stitches and make a simple felt heart decoration. You will make one with embroidery and one with buttons. The hearts also make a lovely gift. You will learn how to create backgrounds, add colour, layers and text. There is plenty of time to play and experiment in this class! Cost $115 for 4 x 2 hour sessions. Contact Kaye for times and dates. Using Colour In Art and Craft - Learn the rules for applying colour to a project in this hands on workshop. You will participate in class exercises to learn about colour theory, mixing colour and applying it to your work. Cost $40 for a 2 hour session. Contact Kaye for times and dates. Beginner's Embroidery - This is a technique class and you will learn about threads, needles, fabrics and some basic embroidery stitches as you make a small sampler. Cost $75 for 2 x 21/2 hour sessions. Contact Kaye for times and dates. Basic Jewellery Making - A 6 week class covering a variety of basic jewellery techniques and equipment. You will make beaded earrings, bracelets and necklaces. The 6 sessions run for 2 hours each.
Free Machine Embroidery - A 4 hour workshop that can be offered as 2 x 2 hours or 1 x 4 hour session. You will need to bring your own sewing machine and instruction booklet. Dyeing fabric -natural fibres - both thread and fabric- A 4 hourworkshop where you will learn different techniques for dyeing natural fibres and have your own samples to take home. If you are a quilter who loves hand dyed fabrics or an embroiderer who loves variegated threads, come and learn to make you own .The techniques taught can be done in very little space with not too much cold water. There are photos of a quilt with hand dyed fabrics on the gallery page.
